Volume's design practice exists to make hard products feel obvious. Our approach

Discover

We start by understanding the business behind the product. That means stakeholder interviews, competitive teardowns, user research where it's warranted, and a clear-eyed audit of any existing brand or design assets. The output is a shared understanding of where the product is going and what design needs to do to get it there.

Design

From research, we move into wireframes and visual exploration. We develop the brand language and product UI in parallel so the two reinforce each other rather than fighting for attention. Every design decision is documented and tested against the use cases identified during discovery.

Build

Designs are delivered as production-ready files with full design systems, component libraries, and developer handoff documentation. When Volume engineers are building the product, this phase is collapsed into the engineering workflow, eliminating the back-and-forth that usually happens between design and dev teams.

Ship

We stay involved through launch to make sure the design holds up in production. Post-launch, we audit the live product against the original system, capture learnings, and document any patterns that should feed back into the design system for future work.
