Introduction

Scratch Cards set out to reinvent the scratch ticket industry by combining traditional retail mechanics with blockchain-backed digital ownership. They needed a development partner who could bridge the gap between fiat fintech systems, NFT infrastructure, and consumer retail applications.

Challenge

The product required deep specialization across multiple domains that rarely overlap. The platform needed to handle fiat payment processing alongside NFT minting and marketplace functionality. It also had to work across a fragmented device landscape: iOS and Android phones for consumers, Android tablets for retail operators, and a web application for administrators. No off-the-shelf solution existed.

Approach

Volume designed and built the entire Scratch Cards enterprise software suite: a self-hosted API backend, a web-based admin panel, native iOS and Android consumer applications, a retailer-facing Android tablet app, and a full web application. The architecture supported both traditional payment rails and blockchain transactions, with PDF417 barcode integration for physical-digital ticket bridging.

Results

The platform launched as a complete end-to-end solution for NFT-powered scratch tickets. Volume's work supported the filing of 2 patents for PDF417-powered NFT technology. The company secured over $500K in funding and established partnerships with bitcoin.com and other notable web3 organizations.

Tech Stack

Conclusion

Scratch Cards required the kind of cross-domain engineering that most teams can't deliver under one roof. Volume's ability to operate across fintech, blockchain, mobile, and retail systems made it possible to ship a cohesive enterprise platform instead of a patchwork of integrations. The patents and funding that followed are a direct result of building on solid architecture from day one.
