
Mentality is a lifestyle brand with a distinct visual identity and a dedicated audience. They needed a mobile application that could serve as both a content hub and a commerce channel, but previous development teams couldn't translate the brand's motif into a functional digital product.
The core challenge was fidelity. Mentality's brand motif demanded precise execution, and earlier teams failed to capture the visual language in their builds. The client needed a partner who could move from concept through production without diluting the brand.
Volume ran the full design process: mindmapping sessions to align on product vision, low-fidelity wireframes to establish structure, high-fidelity wireframes to lock in the visual system, and interactive Figma prototypes for stakeholder review. From there, the team built a native iOS application with a parallel Android release, integrating content delivery (audio, articles) with a merchandise storefront.
The Mentality Quotes application launched on both iOS and Android. The app generates approximately five figures per month through mobile app opt-in deals, combining content engagement with direct revenue. The design system created during the project continues to serve as the brand's digital foundation.
Mentality's project is a case study in why design-led development matters. Where previous teams treated the brand's visual standards as a styling layer, Volume embedded them into the product from the first wireframe. The result is an application that feels native to the brand and drives real revenue, proving that design fidelity and commercial performance aren't competing priorities.
